Friday, April 20, 2018 - (TRENTON) - The Mercer County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, today announced its endorsement of Elvin Montero for Trenton City Council At-Large.
The Mercer County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, is the state federation of labor representing over 50,000 members of 37 local unions throughout New Jersey.
The mission of the Mercer County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, is to improve the lives of working families—to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to our state and the nation.
“Thank you to the Mercer County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO for their endorsement,” said Elvin Montero. “As a first time candidate, I am truly honored by their confidence in my candidacy for Trenton City Councilperson At-Large. I remain committed to protecting workers' rights, fair wages and benefits, and equal pay for equal work.”
Montero, a first-time candidate, is no stranger to local politics. As president of the Homeowners Association at the historic Ice House Factory in Chambersburg, he has worked hard to improve the lives of his neighbors and his community; as a local Democratic Committeeman, he has made sure that their needs are communicated to Mercer County’s elected officials.
Montero, who both lives and works in Trenton, has been recognized for his hard work on numerous occasions. Last year, the Mercer County Democratic Committee named him one of its “Rising Stars.” A lifelong community servant, Montero acknowledged his motivation to help his neighbors: “At the end of the day, I’m running because I think together we can make a difference in the lives of our residents.”
